Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism is the foundation of the Christian life. Through Baptism, we are freed from original sin, become adopted children of God, are welcomed into the Church, and begin our lifelong journey of faith. Baptism is celebrated with water and the words: "I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."
The symbols of Baptism remind us of God's saving grace:
- Water signifies cleansing from sin and new life in Christ.
- Holy Oil marks the newly baptized as sharing in Christ's mission as priest, prophet, and king.
- The Baptismal Candle represents the light of Christ, which we are called to carry into the world.
- The White Garment symbolizes the new life and dignity we receive as members of God's family.
Fr. Tim oversees the Baptism preparation program and is happy to assist families as they prepare for this joyful celebration. Parents are asked to participate in a Baptismal preparation session before scheduling their child's Baptism.
Baptisms are celebrated on Sundays at 12:30 PM. To arrange a Baptism or to register for the preparation class, please contact the parish office.
