Honoring Two Faithful Shepherds!

October 17, our parish family had the beautiful privilege of celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of our Church building as well as honoring two remarkable priests who served as pastors of St. Margaret Mary Parish. We dedicated our Cry Room to the memory of Father Philip Brady and named our Church Hall Whalen Hall in honor of Monsignor Thomas Whalen. Their portraits now hang in these spaces, so their names, faces, and priestly witness will remain a visible part of our parish family.

Though very different men, Father Brady and Monsignor Whalen shared a deep love for Jesus Christ, the Church, and the people of St. Margaret Mary. It is fitting that we remember them in places where parish life continues to unfold: the Cry Room, where young families hand on the faith to a new generation, and the parish hall, where our community gathers, celebrates, and grows together. I am deeply grateful to have followed in the footsteps of these two faithful shepherds.

Thank you to the Women’s Group, the Men’s League, and the Knights of Columbus for their generous support of this celebration. A very special thank you to LeAnne Sheldon​, Jackie Schubert​ and Heather Moura, who coordinated every detail of this day. They gave countless hours of planning, organizing, and hard work behind the scenes, and they did it all with grace and a true love for our parish. Because of their dedication, this celebration was a fitting tribute to two priests who gave so much to St. Margaret Mary. We are truly grateful to you both.

May Father Phil Brady and Monsignor Thomas Whalen rest eternally in the peace of Christ, and may their love for St. Margaret Mary continue to inspire all of us who call this parish home.

Family of the Month

The Knights of Columbus Family of the Month program promotes and supports the development of strong and vibrant families who outwardly exhibit ties of love and faith exemplifying Catholic family values and make meaningful contributions to their parish and larger community.

Today the Knights of Columbus Council 1350 and the entire St. Margaret Mary parish community honor Rich and Karen Oko. They have been parishioners for 50 years, since 1976!

Rich and Karen are parents to three grown children, Lisa, Christopher, and Keith. They attended CCD and received their sacraments at our parish. In addition, they are blessed with eight grandchildren (seven boys and one girl).

Karen was the school secretary in four different Shelton public schools, the most recent being Sunnyside from which she retired. In the past, she also taught 2nd grade CCD classes. Currently, Karen is a reader at the 11:30 Mass.

Rich was a data processing manager. Then he followed Karen into the Shelton School system where he was employed as a school custodian for 13 years. He was known as "Mr. Rich" to the children. Rich serves our parish as an usher at the 11:30 Mass.

Rich and Karen will receive a Family of the Month certificate and the roaming holy chalice for the month of October.

Knights of Columbus Silver Rose Ceremony

Pilgrimage 2027 with Fr. Tim and Fr. Chris Ford

Notre Dame of Easton and St. Margaret Mary Parish will make a joint 14-day pilgrimage to the Shrines of France and Spain from October 12 to 25, 2027, led by Fr. Tim Iannacone and Fr. Chris Ford. The journey begins in Paris at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal and the Cathedral of Notre-Dame, then continues to Paray-le-Monial, where Our Lord appeared to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. Fittingly, the group will be there on October 16, her feast day. From there, pilgrims will visit Ars, Rocamadour, and Lourdes, then cross the Pyrenees into Spain to visit Loyola, Covadonga, Santiago de Compostela, Salamanca, and Ávila. With daily Mass, time at the Grotto in Lourdes, the candlelight Rosary procession, and the Pilgrim Mass at the Cathedral of St. James, this trip offers a chance to step away from the ordinary pace of life, pray together, and grow closer to Christ through the saints and shrines of Europe.

The all-inclusive package, arranged through Peter’s Way Tours, is $6,195 per person (sharing a twin room) when paid by check, or $6,395 by credit card. It includes round-trip airfare from JFK, twelve nights in first-class hotels, daily breakfast and dinner, motor-coach transportation, professional guides, and entrance fees. A land-only option is also available starting at $5,195. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due by the enrollment deadline of January 15, 2027, and final payment is due June 30, 2027. Please note that the pilgrimage involves a good deal of walking, stairs, and cobblestone streets. If Shelton Public Schools are delayed or canceled due to inclement weather, there will be no 8:00 AM Daily Mass.

Morning Bible Study

The Morning Bible Study invites parishioners to come together in a welcoming environment to read, reflect upon, and discuss the Word of God. Through Scripture, prayer, and conversation, participants discover how God’s message continues to speak to us and guide our everyday lives.

Whether you are new to Bible study or have studied Scripture for years, all are welcome to join this opportunity for spiritual growth, fellowship, and a deeper understanding of our Catholic faith.

Evening Bible Study

The Evening Bible Study provides an opportunity for adults to grow in their knowledge and love of Scripture while building friendships with fellow parishioners. Through guided studies, video presentations, personal reflection, and group discussion, participants explore the teachings of Jesus and discover how Scripture can transform our faith and daily lives.

This ministry welcomes anyone who desires to deepen their relationship with Christ in a supportive and faith-filled community.

Peace in the Storm

Peace in the Storm is a ministry of prayer, support, and encouragement for those experiencing life’s difficult challenges, including chronic illness, chronic pain, disability, aging, or the challenges of caring for a loved one.

This ministry provides a place where individuals can come together, share their experiences, pray with one another, and be reminded that they are not alone. Through faith, compassion, and community, we seek to recognize God’s presence and peace even during difficult times. All are welcome!

Peace in the Storm will gather once a month on the third Tuesday of the month, beginning September 15, offering a welcoming opportunity for prayer, fellowship, and finding Christ’s peace in the midst of life’s challenges.

Meals from the Heart

Meals from the Heart is a ministry of compassion that brings parish families together to support individuals and families in our community through the simple but powerful gift of a home-cooked meal.

This ministry provides an opportunity for parishioners to serve others in a meaningful way—whether by preparing a meal, helping with delivery, or offering support when a neighbor is experiencing a difficult season. A meal is more than food; it is a reminder that someone cares and that our parish family is here to walk with one another.
