Peace in the Storm

Peace in the Storm (officially The Peace in the Storm Project) is a Catholic ministry dedicated to accompanying people who are living with chronic illness, chronic pain, disability, the challenges of aging, and family caregiving. Rather than focusing on physical healing alone, the ministry helps people discover Christ's presence, hope, and peace in the midst of suffering.

The ministry was founded by Maureen Pratt, an award-winning Catholic author who has personally lived with chronic illness for many years. Her own experience inspired a ministry that combines Catholic spirituality, Scripture, prayer, and fellowship.

The spiritual foundation of the ministry is deeply Catholic. It recognizes that while God sometimes grants physical healing, every Christian is called to experience a deeper healing through union with Christ. The ministry encourages participants to unite their sufferings with those of Jesus, receive strength from the sacraments, and find hope within the Church community.

The ministry began as a parish-based faith-sharing group at St. Aloysius Parish in New Canaan, Connecticut, and has since expanded to parishes and dioceses across numerous states.
